Shamekka Marty
Shamekka Marty is a dynamic leader in patient advocacy, specializing in empowering individuals with chronic illness, particularly those living with autoimmune diseases. A Lupus warrior, caregiver and rare disease patient, Shamekka has dedicated her life to improving healthcare access and promoting patient-centered care.
With a deep personal connection to the healthcare system, she is a passionate advocate for marginalized communities, particularly Black women, and seeks to revolutionize healthcare through technology and health equity initiatives. Her journey has been marked by overcoming adversity, starting at a young age when she became a caregiver for her family members with severe health conditions. Despite being diagnosed with Lupus at 30 and undergoing multiple surgeries, including a kidney transplant in 2023, Shamekka has become an influential voice in both healthcare and patient advocacy.
As a cybersecurity project manager and board member of several charities, Shamekka continues to inspire through her resilience, leadership and dedication to helping others thrive.
