Dr. Chen is a board certified internist and geriatrician who has an outpatient practice at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. She also is trained to perform acupuncture (certified through the HELMS institute of UCLA) and incorporates this into her daily practice as a way to offer integrative medicine options for various chronic disease management. She is passionate about geriatric education and serves as a program director for the Mayo Alix school of medicine "Senior Sages" geriatrics curriculum, course director for the annual geriatrics update CME conference, and works closely with fellows in residents as an educator/preceptor during their geriatric rotation block. Her research interests include improving the quality of dementia care through integrative medicine, palliative care services in the home, care transitions and new models of delivering high quality service to homebound and frail patients. She has presented her work internationally on various topics including integrative medicine in the care of the elderly, nutrition, wound care, comprehensive pain management and the importance of a functional assessment in the older adult. Recreationally, Dr. Chen enjoys photography, training in Brazilian jiujitsu and traveling.
