Arnold Ceponis, MD, PhD is a Board-certified rheumatologist who diagnoses and treats various rheumatic and autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid, psoriatc and osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, pseudogout, systemic lupus, scleroderma, mixed connnetive tissue disease, Sjogren's syndrome, myositis systemic vasculitis and others.
Dr. Ceponis is certified in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Rheumatology (RhMSUS) by the American Colege or Rheumatology, and is nationally reconginzed expert and instructor in the field of musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr. Ceponis' scope of practice also includes diagnostic and interventional ultrasound to treat conditions such as tendinitis, bursitis, and other minor sports or repetitive injuries.
Dr. Ceponis' is Associatd Clinical Professor at Univeristy of California San Diego (UCSD) Department of Medicine where he also serves as Rheumatology Fellowship Program Director. Dr. Ceponis is directly involved in teaching medical students, residents and rheumatology fellows at UCSD School of Medicine, and runs Continued Medical Education (CME) program for rheumatologists.
Dr. Ceponis scholarly interest includes research on rheumatoid arthritis, vasculitis, imaging in rheumatic diseases among other fields. Dr. Ceponis, has authored and co-authored multiple publications in the major rheumatology journals such as Arthritis & Rheumatology, Annals of Rheumatic Diseases, The Journal of Rheumatoloy and others. He has contributed to textbooks, presented at national and international meetings, and pioneered introduction of musculoskeletal ultrasound in the diagnoses and management of patients with rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren syndrome and hemophilic arthorpathy.
