Have you ever found yourself dreaming about a perfectly organized world? You know the one: It's a world where there is a place for everything and everything is in its place. Paperwork is filed away snuggly in cabinets; rooms and countertops are clutter free; appointments are always marked on the calendar; and you always know where to find everything you need in your home or office. What a world!

Now, we all know that reality and fantasy are two different worlds. However, there is something that exists in both of these worlds: comfort.

Becoming better organized by being comfortable? Why not? Aren't we all for feeling more comfortable? Being comfortable is almost synonymous with a warm smile, feeling good overall and, of course, being stress-free.

Here are a few suggestions to help you be more comfortable in your daily life—and be organized, too!

Think comfy. What do you do to relax or unwind? Consider making the experience more comfortable. If you do your own nails or take relaxing hot baths frequently, you might want to put your supplies in a little caddy or basket for easy access and cleanup. Reading good books in bed is nice when you already have your favorites stacked nearby on a nightstand with a good reading lamp.

Work well. Eliminating minor physical inconveniences will help your workflow. If you use an office supply item frequently but store it in a drawer or a cabinet, why not leave it on the desk or counter while you are using it? Remove any old files or materials from your workspace that can be archived or placed in dead storage. Prevent stress in your back, neck and eyes by making sure your chair provides you with adequate support and that your keyboard and monitor are appropriately positioned for your use.

Pull a thorn out of your side. Is there something small in your home or office that is bothering or annoying you? Perhaps it's a stack of old magazines sitting on the floor that you keep tripping over, a small electronic unit that needs new batteries or a pile of clothes that needs to go to the cleaners. Pick one small project this month for you to work on and fix or complete. You’ll feel better having finally accomplished the task.
