School's only been back in session for a couple weeks but a new bully is already wreaking havoc. EV-D68, a new respiratory virus, has hit children hard. It causes symptoms similar to the common cold, allergies or asthma—just with more intensity.

It is not a mystery virus—we see it every late summer/early fall—but this strain, EV-D68, seems to be causing more intense asthma symptoms, wheezing and respiratory difficulty for large numbers of kids at the same time.

Use this handy symptom graphic to determine whether your child may have this scary virus. If your child has these symptoms, talk to your health care provider.
