Whether you're part of a dyad or flying solo, why not put the focus on yourself this Valentine's Day? Instead of attempting to win the heart of another, try listening to your own. What is it that you need? Is it inspiration? Support? Alone time?

Slow down, take a deep breath and pay attention to what you're craving. By giving yourself what you need now, you can prevent feeling overwhelmed later.

Feeling lonely? Find support—whether it’s from a community class, organization or simply by asking your friends or family for a little extra TLC.

Need a good cry? Rent your favorite sad movie and get the tissues ready (Love Story and Beaches always do the trick for me).

Holding back lots of pent up energy? Blast your favorite tunes and sing out loud, take a freestyle dance or kickboxing class. Maybe just screem into your pillow.

Feeling uninspired? Plan to visit a beautiful place (it could be your own backyard) or go to a museum. Get creative—sign up for an art class or take up an instrument. Or read about courageous women that have done amazing things in history.

Whatever it is, this Valentine’s Day, give yourself what you need—you deserve it!
